The HIPAA Privacy Rule (45 CFR Part 164, Subpart E) requires covered entities and business associates to train all workforce members on their privacy policies. New workforce members are trained within a reasonable time, again after a material policy change, and the training is documented for six years. Breach notification rules are in Subpart D.
