Who it's for
Staff of financial institutions who deal with older customers, including supervisors, compliance and legal staff, registered representatives, adviser representatives and producers.
The rules
The Senior Safe Act (12 U.S.C. 3423) gives immunity to people and institutions that report suspected exploitation of older adults in good faith, on conditions that include training. It is a condition of immunity, not a training mandate. FINRA Rule 2165 adds temporary holds for broker-dealers.
Training before a report for the immunity conditions to apply
Recognize signs of exploitation
Report to the agencies the law lists
Completing this course does not by itself give an institution or a person Senior Safe Act protection.
The course
The course is built in modules, each with short lessons, real-world scenarios and quizzes. Here is what each module is for.
Module 1
For financial institution staff, this opening module frames elder financial exploitation as a workplace concern and introduces the concepts you will use throughout the course.
Module 2
Practice now asks you to look closely at realistic situations. Connect your observations with the introductory concepts and decide which concerns warrant further consideration.
Module 3
Decisions about responding anchor this part of the learning path, where you use earlier concepts to weigh options and practice handling concerns thoughtfully.
Module 4
Drawing the learning together, consider more complex situations and connect your decisions with the wider workplace context while identifying questions that need further guidance.

No course can do that on its own. This is general training based on the rules described on this page. It is not approved or endorsed by any government agency, and the certificate is a record that the person completed the course. Your organization still provides its own policies, procedures and records, and you should check the rules that apply to you with your own advisor.
