Who it's for
Maine employers, and the employees and supervisors they train. The supervisor version adds a module for people who manage others.
The rules
Maine's sexual harassment law (26 M.R.S. § 807) requires employers to educate employees about sexual harassment and to post a notice. The state's checklist for employers ties the training and record-keeping steps to employers with 15 or more employees.
Educate employees about what sexual harassment is and how to report it
Follow the state's training and record-keeping checklist (employers with 15 or more employees)
Post the required notice
The course
The course is built in modules, each with short lessons, real-world scenarios and quizzes, with a longer supervisor version. Here is what each module is for.
Module 1
Explore Maine sexual harassment prevention as a workplace subject before moving into practice, developing the basic awareness you need to recognize questions that warrant attention.
Module 2
Situations drawn from working life give you room to practice judgment. Apply the introductory learning and consider why one response may fit better than another.
Module 3
Having practiced recognizing concerns, consider how to act on your learning. This module helps you reason through workplace responses without treating every situation as identical.
Module 4 Supervisor version
Supervisors and managers use this module to examine sexual harassment prevention from a leadership perspective and apply course concepts when weighing decisions about workplace conduct.

No course can do that on its own. This is general training based on the rules described on this page. It is not approved or endorsed by any government agency, and the certificate is a record that the person completed the course. Your organization still provides its own policies, procedures and records, and you should check the rules that apply to you with your own advisor.
